Uterine Bleeding
Uterine bleeding results from irregular menstrual periods and typically lasts longer than an average cycle. It can also occur outside of a cycle. There are a few contributing factors to keep in mind that include:
- Stress
- Illness
- Weight loss or gain
- Heavy amounts of exercising
- Side effects brought on by medication
Endometriosis
This is a very common and unpredictable gynecologic disorder in women. Typical symptoms include the following:
- Infertility
- Increased menstrual cramping
- Pain during sexual intercourse
Endometrial Ablation
This procedure helps to treat women with excess uterine bleeding. A hysteroscopy is a common method that’s also performed with this treatment. Rest assured if our gynecologist happens to suggest an endometrial ablation because they’re safe, however, anesthesia may present risks. Keep in mind that pregnancy following this procedure is unlikely to occur since it involves the removal of the uterine lining.
Cervical Cancer Screenings
With this service, a pap test will be performed to detect any precancerous cells within the cervix. It’s also recommended to have this done for early detection of Human Papilloma Virus (HPV).
Surgery
Hysteroscopy
A hysteroscopy can assist in the detection of fibroids, such as tumors and myomas, or polyps within the uterus that have resulted in severe cramping, bleeding between periods or heavy periods.
Hysterectomy
A hysterectomy is the surgical removal of the uterus. It may also involve removal of the cervix, ovaries, fallopian tubes and other surrounding structures
